An abstract field of turquoise and green iridescent light curling through a dark starfield, with no figure and no face

No two witnesses describe the same color. Survey logs call it teal, verdigris, storm-glass, the blue-green of a coral shallow lit from beneath. The name that stuck — the Turquoise Dove — was coined by a boundary station clerk who never saw the shape at all, only the field readout: a signature that settled, every time, into the same narrow band of harmonic distortion, gentler than any dragon's had a right to be.

Gentleness is the point, not an accident of it. Where lower-ranking Dragons specialise in constrained high-energy and frontier functions, the Turquoise Dove holds a Higher Levril's seniority: cross-Concordant coordination, and mentorship reserved for Champions whose causal relevance is judged high enough to be worth the risk of teaching them anything at all. She does not intervene to fix outcomes. She intervenes, when she intervenes, to make sure a mind under boundary stress doesn't mistake what it is being shown for permission to stop thinking for itself.

Material-layer accounts converge on one detail across otherwise irreconcilable descriptions: she never arrives during the emergency. She arrives after, when the survivors are still deciding what they saw, and asks questions that turn out to matter more than the answers they'd already settled on.

Known History

  • No confirmed first contact with a Material-layer Concordant is on record; her presence is inferred retroactively from field-anomaly logs at multiple boundary stations across at least two Concordants.
  • Consistently associated with post-instability advisory contact rather than active intervention — consistent with a Higher Levril's Cascade-permitted role, not a Dragon's.
  • No recorded case of the Turquoise Dove selecting a Champion directly; several cases exist of her mentoring a Champion selected by another Levril.
  • Cascade standing and subclass confirmed by field-signature analysis; no Material-layer archive holds a first-person account of an actual meeting.

Character Notes

She is patient in a way that reads, to anyone expecting a dragon, as almost unnervingly small-scale: a single reframed question, not a revelation. Witnesses who go looking for grandeur come away unsatisfied and, more often than not, later realise they were taught something anyway.

She does not claim moral authority, and corrects anyone who offers it to her — consistent with the operational constraint that Levrils do not adjudicate morality. What she offers instead is narrower and, by her own apparent standard, more useful: a second look at a boundary a survivor is certain they already understand correctly.

Her coloring has no confirmed explanation in Cascade literature. The Levril lore article does not distinguish subclasses by hue, and no other named Higher Levril on record shares it. Whether that makes her signature meaningful or simply hers is, so far, an open question nobody with standing to answer it has chosen to.
