Nature of incident:

Two wall-mounted chronometers in Dock Seven are no longer agreeing on the hour. Units C-7A and C-7B currently differ by 40 seconds. Both units were individually calibrated and confirmed accurate within ±0.5 seconds during the last maintenance cycle on Day 12 of the same season.

The discrepancy has been present for at least three days, first noticed on Day 44. No mechanical cause has been identified.

Actions taken:

Both units were recalibrated to station-standard time. The discrepancy cleared at the time of filing.

Recommendation:

No further action required. Recommend monitoring for recurrence.

Calibration issue. Report closed. Units to be recalibrated at next maintenance cycle.


Note appended by Survey Archive (S.) — 2826 UCSD: The discrepancy returned on Day 49, two days after recalibration. That return was not filed as an incident report. It survives only in the Day 49 maintenance log as a single line: "C-7A/C-7B discrepancy returned. 40 sec. No action."
