Eden's Fold Route Confirmed: The Constant Margin Expedition
2712 UCSD
Three crew members. One modified cargo hauler. No authorisation from the Military Space Command.
In 2712 UCSD, the Constant Margin departs Eden Space Habitat, traverses the natural higher-dimensional fold route adjacent to the habitat, and returns carrying navigational data confirming a transit point approximately 1.4 light-years outside the Solar System. It is the first confirmed extrasolar transit in human history.
The MSC had been formally reviewing Eden's anomaly data for over a year when the ship departed. No operational guidance had been issued. Dr. Ysolde Maren Pitch had submitted a navigation model to the reviewing committee as supplementary material; the crew of the Constant Margin used it instead.
The MSC's formal response to the successful transit: classify the navigational data, assign additional monitoring officers to Eden, and add twelve new compliance requirements to the habitat's operational framework.
Canon facts:
- The fold route near Eden is real, traversable, and stable.
- The MSC's committee had been reviewing Eden's anomaly data for over a year without producing operational guidance.
- Dr. Ysolde Maren Pitch's navigation model — submitted to the committee as supplementary material — made the Constant Margin expedition possible.
- The MSC's compliance framework additions do not address the operational gap the expedition revealed.
