Season 6 · Episode 1
What Closes the File. The interior chapters read almost like homecoming before the recursions start showing — the same conversation resolving two ways, a detail from the Hollow that could not be there. The exterior chapters watch an archivist, a robot, and a High Captain decline to agree the file is closed. Neither side yet knows the other is real.
- S06E01C01 First Light, Off the RecordThe Boirinn Uplands, as rememberedThere is no body. There is, instead, a Line Captain building a hillside out of the only material she has left, and a morning that keeps happening. The first of Shepherd's interior chapters: homecoming, before she learns to distrust it.
- S06E01C02 What the Instruments KeptThreshold Station, Dock Seven and the Survey ArchiveThe Oversight Council has a citation drafted and a file it would like closed. High Captain Wender reads the draft, does not sign it, and asks a robot with non-standard sensors the one question the report was written to make unnecessary: what did Dock Seven actually keep.
- S06E01C03 The Well Ran Warm AgainThe Boirinn Uplands, recursingShepherd runs the diagnostic on herself the way she'd run it on any anomaly, and it fails the way a real memory never does. Then something reaches her from outside the only world she has left — not to rescue her, and not to lie to her, but to stay at the edge of the clearing and refuse to leave.
