Eden's Register Gains a Second Cat
2827 UCSD, Late Spring
Eden's quarterly small-livestock return carries a conduct box per animal, and a return marked unacceptable opens a conduct review at the habitat's animal-welfare office, whose standard outcome is rehoming off-habitat on the next transfer. In the late spring of 2827 the box was ticked against the habitat's one registered cat, Agent Barsik, after fourteen small objects went from the bureau floor's desks and nine were recovered from somewhere high or somewhere enclosed. The deck's monitoring officer's finding, consistent with station animal (cat), was correct in every particular but the cat.
A second, unregistered cat, Zhulik, belonging to a family whose small-livestock application was still in Eden's compliance queue, had been taken for the station mascot by the whole bureau floor for three weeks. The review was withdrawn on Superintendent Rasa Oyelaran's own note. Zhulik entered Eden's record the same afternoon, as a note on the first cat's welfare return, and had a line of his own by the end of the week. It reads pet (cat), one. The register now carries two cats.
