Mayor Imogen Petrakis
Imogen Petrakis was elected on a platform most of Eden's residents summarised, not unkindly, as "someone who reads the forms before they get filed" — a low bar, by the habitat's own admission, and one her predecessors had somehow still cleared inconsistently. Eden's twelve-and-counting compliance requirements since the Constant Margin transit are as much her problem as anyone's; unlike the Military Space Command committee that generated most of them, she cannot let a report sit unread for eleven months and still expect to be re-elected.
Her office is one half of the dual line Space Commissioner Zara Wayland answers to — the half that exists because the Orbital Habitats Compact coordinates five habitats at once and cannot always move at the speed a single habitat's residents need. Petrakis has never had to invoke that distinction loudly. She has made clear, in the mildest possible language available to a sitting Mayor, that she would.
Character Notes
Petrakis treats Eden's fold-adjacent anomaly reports as a genuine civic hazard rather than a scientific curiosity, on the reasoning that the Patience First's disappearance happened to residents who trusted the habitat's compliance framework to have caught the risk in time, and it hadn't. She has pushed, without success so far, for the Compact to fund an independent review of Eden's monitoring capacity separate from whatever the Star Rangers' Survey Corps and Solar System Defence Command already run for the Eden Passage itself.
She has never asked what Superintendent Oyelaran's bureau actually does with its station-mascot livestock line item, on the private theory — never stated in a public session — that a Mayor who asks every question she's entitled to ask stops being able to trust the answers she gets to the ones that matter.
