Membrane Shadow
In Union Irish: Scáth Seicne — a shadow of the membrane
Cosmology
A Membrane Shadow is the Physical-layer counterpart to Intermembrane Bleed's Etheric one: at Type III inter-membrane proximity, a coherent mass in the neighbouring universe, on the far side of a narrowed Interval — usually a living being — patterns the geometric strain between the two membranes with its own outline, and that strain — its shape the neighbour's, its strength the boundary's — bends and dims ambient light, producing a full silhouette with no physical object on this side casting it.
Nothing crosses the gap. The mass responsible stays entirely within its own Concordant. What is seen is the shadow of something real, cast from one universe into another it never touches — coincidence or convergent design if it happens to resemble someone the observer knows, never an alternate-timeline double, since neighbouring membranes share no common history to have diverged from.
Not to be confused with the Class III non-sapient incursives described in Meta-Dimensional Beings: Classification, which have physically entered material space. A Membrane Shadow shows no thermal or mass signature on standard instruments — only a cross-membrane gravimeter registers it directly — which is itself how the two are told apart.
