Sir Galahad Thorne (Human)

By the time they returned to Threshold Station, the sky over Dock Seven had gone from black to the colour of old steel. Nobody suggested sleep.

Thorne stood at the operations table while Rook-7 projected three overlaid traces: station chronometer drift, the residue pattern Aldera had captured at the causeway, and the grove signal from the oldest dryadic tree.

They lined up.

Not perfectly. Not point-for-point. But in the way that mattered — phase families and recurrence intervals — they lined up enough to stop pretending these were separate problems.

"Say it plainly," he said, looking at Syra. "What are we looking at?"

She did not hesitate.

"Coupled harmonics," she said. "The station drift and the grove anchor are in different layers, but they are exchanging coherence pressure. You have been treating one as instrumentation error and one as folklore. They are the same structure seen through different constraints."

He had expected something like this. Hearing it said this cleanly still made his shoulders tighten.

"And this affects transit?"

"Directly," she said. "Quantum Space Harmonic Wave transit is a lock problem. If local coherence is ambiguous, lock duration shrinks. Your safety margins become fiction."

That landed harder than anything else in the briefing. There were ships due through this sector in two days.

Syra (Krenyi)

Humans often asked for explanations as if explanations were comfort. Sometimes they were. Usually they were responsibility.

Syra drew three circles on the table display and linked them with thin lines.

"A legal harmonic transit needs three things at once," she said. "A corridor topology that exists. A vessel phase signature that matches it. An exit state the local Concordant can accept. Lose any one and you do not have transit; you have failure."

Thorne nodded once. He was tracking.

She highlighted the ratio Aldera had flagged.

"Three to seven is not numerology. It is band coupling. The causeway residue sits in the same harmonic family as your station drift, offset by layer."

Elvira, standing near the wall, was listening with the same still concentration she had used at the grove.

"So my failed closures fed the same structure that was distorting the station clocks," Elvira said.

"Yes," Syra said. She did not soften it. "You were working one face of the problem. Blindly, but not incorrectly."

She expanded the model to include projected corridor windows.

"Here is the operational part," she said. "In a stable zone, lock tolerance gives you minutes. Here, with overlap active, you get seconds before ambiguity climbs. That is why drop-out risk spikes at boundary stations."

She looked at Thorne.

"If you file this as a local anomaly, people die later and far away."

LOG ENTRY — Rook-7 Location: Threshold Station, Boundary Operations Room Context: Post-grove debrief / harmonic model integration

I have completed an updated forecast using combined inputs from:

  1. Station chronometer discrepancy archive (11 years).
  2. Aldera causeway residue dataset (current week).
  3. Grove anchor signal captured at 0.22-second leaf phase-lag baseline.

Result: coupled harmonic system confirmed.

Practical meaning for non-specialists:

  • Quantum Space Harmonic Wave transit is not "faster engines."
  • It is successful phase agreement across a temporary corridor.
  • Boundary ambiguity reduces agreement duration.
  • Reduced duration means higher probability of forced drop-out.

New capability statement:

I can now predict high-risk lock windows approximately 18–26 minutes before decoherence threshold crossing, depending on sensor quality and local boundary volatility. This is sufficient lead time for traffic control advisories.

Recommendation set submitted to Team Lead Thorne:

  • Issue immediate advisory: conservative lock margins for all inbound harmonic transits.
  • Classify Threshold sector as dynamic ambiguity zone until root-coupling intervention completes.
  • Merge Etheric-layer field reports (Elvira) with station engineering telemetry as a single incident stream.

Additional note:

Syra's statement was accurate: explanation is responsibility. Team response appears aligned with this requirement.
