Caomhari

Caomhari (pronounced: KEEV-ar-ee) is the official record's name for the sapient beings native to Tír Tairngire, the neighbouring universe whose membrane opens onto Tír na nÓg's Concordant on a regular rhythm. The name comes from the Irish caomh: gentle, kind, dear.

Three names, one people. The Celtic Union has called them the Good People since its First Landing, and the record keeps that as the Union's word, the way it keeps Filinesse for their country. Off-world speech calls them elves, and the record quotes that as speech and never adopts it, because the word brings a body and a race with it and the Caomhari have neither on this side. In Archive voice they are the Caomhari.

They are not meta-dimensional in origin: they are native to their own universe, and so have a from, as a meta-dimensional being does not. They appear meta-dimensional because their influence reaches across the membrane, and the record files them by that appearance, as founded neighbours within Class II of the meta-dimensional beings classification: sapient and without Cascade standing, and the clearest case on record that a Class II being need not be a predator. What a witness sees of one is a presentation, pitched at the boundary to be met, as with the Dryads; see Membrane Shadows. At a Conjunction window they are luminous, which the First Landing records called Luminescent Ethereal Beings.

Met three ways. A Caomhari may be met as an imprint, a Membrane Shadow with no body and nothing crossed; as a Photographic Being, this side's daylight gathered into a far-side outline, also with nothing crossed; or in a body, through a transient gravity tunnel at a Conjunction window, luminous by its own voice. There is no half-crossed body between the last two: a tunnel is a conduit or nothing, and no transit caught at its collapse has ever been recorded resolving safely. A dreaming mind near the narrowed Interval may also register their bled templates (Dreams Across the Interval), which is a reading and not a meeting.

They are not Obligers. The two share nothing but a history of being called by the same folk word, and that confusion is why both names were settled on 2026-09-23.

Example: A Union field note from a Conjunction window records the Good People at the tree line, three, withdrawing before the close. Filed, it reads: three Caomhari presentations, Class II, no feeding signature, withdrew before the window closed.
